Sliding Gates

Sliding Gates Installed by BGB

Sliding Gates have all the benefits of the Cantilever just with tracks.

Tracked Sliding Gates are the ideal solution for high-security locations where the back-run space is too small to allow for a cantilever gate system and speed of opening, reliability and low maintenance are key considerations.

BGB’s tracked sliding gates are created from hollow section aluminium with a range of infills available to suit the aesthetic of the commercial property. They can be automated and run on a track, via rollers which are powered by an electric motor, that is housed in the gate tower.

Tracked sliding gates have the option of going side to side or one way to slide open and the other to close. All BGB’s tracked sliding gates are a 100% duty rated for heavy industrial usage and come with a manual release, in the event of a power failure. As we only use manufacturers with the highest specification components all our tracked sliding gates have anti-corrosion properties and are virtually maintenance-free.

Sliding Gates FAQs
What are tracked sliding gates?

Tracked sliding gates are security gates that slide horizontally along a ground-mounted rail or guide. They’re designed to offer secure, space-efficient access control where swing gates aren’t suitable, particularly for wider entrances or where ground space is restricted.

What are the benefits of sliding gates compared to other gate types?

Sliding gates are ideal when there is limited space for gate movement, such as in narrow driveways or where a swing path is obstructed. They can handle wide openings, are reliable in high-traffic environments and can be automated and integrated with access control systems.

Can sliding gates be automated?

Yes. Tracked sliding gates can be supplied as either manual or fully automated systems. Automated sliding gates can be integrated with remote controls, keypads, vehicle tags, ANPR and other access control technologies to provide secure, convenient management of vehicle entry.

What site conditions are best suited to sliding gates?

Sliding gates work particularly well when there isn’t sufficient space for a gate to swing, or where ground conditions allow the installation of a track. They are common on industrial, commercial and high-security sites where efficient use of space and frequent operation are required.

How is a sliding gate installed?

Installation starts with a site survey to determine ground conditions, track alignment and civil works required. Boundaries are prepared, foundations laid for the track and gate frame, and any automation and safety systems are installed and tested before commissioning.

Are sliding gates secure and low maintenance?

Yes. Sliding gates are designed to be robust and secure. Regular servicing ensures smooth operation. Boundary Gate & Barrier offer maintenance contracts and 24-hour call-out support to keep gates functioning reliably and safely.

Can sliding gates be used with access control and safety systems?

Sliding gates can be integrated with a wide range of access control systems such as fob/keypad entry, intercoms, ANPR and vehicle detection loops. Safety devices like photocells and safety edges are also part of a compliant installation.

How do I know if a sliding gate is right for my site?

Sliding gates are often the right choice when space is limited for swing gates, where there are wide or irregular entrance openings, or where frequent vehicle movements are expected. A site survey from Boundary Gate & Barrier will confirm the best gate type for your needs.
